			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year, our vision of &#8220;Connecting Global Innovators&#8221; was brought to life at GMIC SV as we brought together over <strong>5,400</strong> attendees from <strong>58</strong> countries for 2 days in Silicon Valley.  GMIC SV was clearly not just another tech event. Our hope was that through GMIC SV, you would be able to better understand and connect with the global mobile industry and ultimately, grow your business.   And, with the support of over <strong>60 partners, 45 advisors and 20 sponsors,</strong> we successfully fulfilled that vision.</p>

<p>Beginning with over 120 applications from 24 countries, G-Startup narrowed down the pool of startups competing at GMIC SV to the Top 20 on Day 1.  These competitors were split between two categories, with 10 finalists each in the Seed Stage and Growth Stage phases.</p>
<p>Day 2 kicked off on our Main Stage with the announcement of the G-Startup winners.  These startups were given the chance to pitch for 5-7 minutes on the Main Stage, and an opportunity to join a leading incubation program in the Valley.</p>

<p>Mike Bailey is a project lead and corporate entrepreneur at Qualcomm Labs, Qualcomm Inc.’s internal incubator focused on addressing new market and product opportunities. In this role, Bailey leads business development for Qualcomm’s “Context Awareness” projects and oversees relationships with major brands and advertising agencies on the implementation of mobile-based marketing.<br />
Previously, Bailey was vice president of Programming for FLO TV at Qualcomm and led the programming strategy and execution for the Company’s $800M investment in FLO TV. He headed the creation of the very first mobile broadcast service which included content from major networks and also helped to secure distribution with carriers.<br />
Prior to joining Qualcomm, Bailey worked for Entriq, Inc., as senior vice president of Business Development, as well as Motorola as vice president of Business Development.<br />
Bailey holds a B.A. degree in Telecommunications &#038; Film from San Diego State University and an MBA from University of San Diego.</p>

<p>David Katz, VP/GM of Consumer Mobile at Groupon, is the global leader of the company’s mobile business. David has been a leader on Groupon’s product team since joining the Palo Alto office in April 2011 as the VP/GM of Retail Solutions. During that time, he led the acquisition of OpenCal and the national launch of Groupon Scheduler, an appointment scheduling solution for small businesses. David shifted back to mobile in July 2012, returning to his roots as a mobile business leader.</p>
<p>Prior to Groupon, David worked across the mobile business at Yahoo!, serving  first as corporate development and strategy lead, later as VP of Mobile Advertising and, beginning in 2009, as VP of Mobile for North America.</p>
<p>Before joining Yahoo, David spent four and a half years with McKinsey &amp; Company as a consultant in the San Francisco office and a member of the Technology, Telecom and Media (TTM) practice. At McKinsey, David served clients in a variety of technology areas including mobile, interactive TV and enterprise software. David has also been active in public affairs and has had roles in four US Presidential campaigns.</p>
<p>David received both a BA and MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He currently lives in San Francisco, CA with his wife Amy Wertheimer, a psychologist in private practice.</p>
